Customer Reviews Hilarious, honest and light-hearted look at pregnancy.
The first time I was pregnant, I read all those scary pregnancy books that made you feel that you were a total failure as a mom-to-be if you ate a candy bar once a month, or skipped the yellow veggies that day, or , God forbid, gained more than 2.3 lbs in your 1st trimester.(I got plenty fat, and lost it all by the time my baby was 5 months old, in spite of the dire warnings). This time, I am at six weeks, feel great, and know I will survive even if I'm not perfect (which my daughter is, by the way). Vicki Iovine's book is hysterical, and true, and actually even makes my husband laugh out loud. It's not a medical book...it's a reality check. Anyone who has ever been pregnant will identify with her assessment of life while expecting. I highly recommend it to any woman with a sense of humor about herself. It's a scream, AND it will make you feel great about yourself, and laugh at the yucky parts of being pregnant which can otherwise be a little depressing and unpleasant. FUNNY! And SO TRUE
I can't believe what some people are writing about this book. Each time I start to become scared about my pregnancy or about giving birth, I pick this book up to make me smile. Thank you Vicki Iovine for helping me with the difficult times of my first pregnancy! I've recommended this book to all I know that are pregnant! Just for fun
The Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy is politically incorrect at times, for sure. That's part of the fun. Vicki Iovine isn't afraid to spill her guts and talk about all the things that pregnant women tend to get a bit neurotic (dare I say crazy?) about while they are pregnant. A lot of pregnancy book authors dance around these issues. Only a handful of authors confront them head-on. I give Vicki a high-five for being one of the few who is willing to tell it like it is. |
