The plot's been described very well by the other reviewers. In short, he's a genetically engineered military operation-type from the future sent to be her bodyguard. She's a resourceful journalist in a small town, about to be stalked/killed by a time-travelling serial killer.

Angela Knight has written many futuristic erotic romances. For this, her first full-length mass market paperback (to my knowledge), the story is as hot as ever, and the futuristic elements perfect.

Compared to conventional romance, the book may be a bit shocking, because its erotica content means that there's lots of very explicit sex, with language that conventional readers may find a bit crude.

Compared to her other erotic romances, this is very well edited, with the jagged edges smoothed into a very pleasing read. Sometimes her heroes are insanely alpha, and the sex can be really overdone. In this book, everything's balanced perfectly. The hero is alpha but quick and tender, and the sex is very steamy and in the right places.

Compared to other novels with futuristic or alien characters (like the Shamara series, Susan Grant's series, etc.), I found this the best. All the futuristic elements made sense and blended in. In other novels, I often find the futuristic/time travelling elements are either awkward, distract from the story, or don't seem realistic at all. Here, Angela Knight has blended futuristic elements, romance, and erotica in the ideal recipe.

Jane's Warlord is an exceptional book. I am so glad friends kept after me to get this book.

Jane Colby is a local newspaper reporter, she covers the crime beat. She is investigating the most recent murder and is shocked to hear how violent the crime is. Even more shocking is the man and his wolf waiting for her at home.

Baran Arvid is a warlord from the future. He has been sent back in time to stop a sadistic serial killer whose next victim is Jane. Baran and his sidekick will lay down their life's to protect Jane.

Jane at first doesn't trust this man and his motives. But she comes to realize she must put her faith and her life in his hands in order to survive. Jane is a strong willed, (...) heroine. Jane is an equal to Baran on so many levels. She gives as good as she gets in and out of the bedroom. Baran though a fierce warlord has never felt this intense desire before and is willing to risk all to have Jane.

Angela Knight writes a richly sensual, suspenseful, futuristic tale. The characters are so multi-dimensional, they make you laugh and you can feel their passions. This book was everything I was told it was and so much more. It's a scorcher.

JANE'S WARLORD is Angela Knight's first full-length work by Berkley and if this is anything to compare future titles to, we are all in for a treat! Let me start off by saying this is one hot novel, so if you get easily offended this may not be the book for you. Ok now that we have that out of the way I can tell you I loved this book.

I am sure that other reviewers have told the storyline so I will just hit the basics. Jane lives in South Carolina and is the owner/reporter/photographer for a small hometown newspaper publication. Baran is a Warlord 300 years from the future sent to protect her from a JumpKiller (Serial Killer), also from the future. The bad guy in this book is scary, he likes to play with his victims before he slices and dices them, then takes a turn having his fun with them. He has time jumped and commited murders all through time.

The things I loved about this book are many. Jane is a strong female, she is not just waiting for the big strong man to come save her. She does her own share of saving also. She doesn't have any of the hang-ups that we see in a lot of romance novels. Baran, now here is a hero! Besides looks, and I could talk about that all day, he is so alpha. The part that sets him apart and made me fall in love with him was his soft side. He tries so hard to always be tough and in control, but he cares about the people he is trying to help, even people he is just meeting. I won't give away the plot, but there is a scene where he comes upon a wreak and it really upsets him that he knows the lady inside the car is going to die before they can get her cut out. He gets her out even though he gets hurt in the process. He has a tender heart and Jane can see through his tough guy act. Baran has a partner, a timber wolf who talks through crystals around his neck. He is a walking talking library of knowledge. He can download any info into his computer implant and then pass it on to Baran. The thing I loved is he is such a smart mouth, funny, has his own personality.... wolf! Angela Knight has really brought these characters to life. I could picture Freika (the wolf) chasing Jane's housecat, calling out "here kitty kitty" LOL He had his own thing going on, and Angela did such a great job writing I could see it all in my mind. There were times I was laughing out loud reading about him.

Angela has came up with a wonderful new future world that I would love to read more about. I hope she will do more Warlord stories. I fell in love with this one. I liked that the book didn't have fillers in it, you all know what I mean by filler, sometimes it is like the author needs so many pages and just repeats or tells you the same thing a hundred different ways just to fill pages. This book was NOT like that! Each page had new things and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next.

If you have not read this one, get it today. It is well worth it. I have already put this one on my keeper shelf and have marked my calender for future Angela Knight releases. All I can say is, please Ms Knight, write faster!! You have fans out here waiting on the next book. Angela Knight is a name to watch out for in the future. Good Luck Ms. Knight.
